The last day of 8th grade; saying goodbye to most all of my friends. Knowing that the following year I would not be attending school with them. I had no choice on which school I’d go to. No matter how hard I tried to convince my parents; or rather, my mom, they wouldn't budge. So I’m stuck here, at Foothill, for at least freshman year.
The actual decision consisted of a lot of different elements personally. My parents played a large role in this decision, and like I said above; their minds were already set in stone. There was no discussion really; they simply said that I was going to Foothill, no exceptions. Another reason I was forced to go here was because of my older sister, Athena. She is a senior here and my parents didn't want to drive me all the way across town when my sister could just drive me 6 blocks down to the school she attends. I guess it’s just easier for them and also economically smarter.
I never actually got the chance to see what Foothill was all about. And what I mean by that is I was camping at Jalama with some friends and family the day of orientation. The first day of school I really found myself way more bummed rather than nervous or excited. It was extremely easy to find my classes since this school is so minuscule. The day started to look up when I met my FIRE crew leaders, their names are Delanie and Jared. They are really cool and helpful when it comes to homework and they make it a great learning environment.
Now that I’m actually here and that I've been here for almost 6 weeks I feel better about it. It honestly gets better every day and I hope that it continues to. But I feel like no matter what I’ll always prefer going to Ventura. I’m actually enjoying my classes and the teachers make it loads more fun. Every year that goes by seems like all of my friends are drowning in homework and I’m just going with the flow. I’m not complaining though, it’s great for me. I’m extremely comfortable at Foothill. Everyone is really nice and I’m not getting troubled by any of the upper class-men. Yeah, I regret not going to Ventura freshman year quite a lot, but it is what it is.
In conclusion I did not choose to go here nor do I want to go here 100%, but I can’t do anything about it so why try? Enough of my negative yapping. Bye.
